Sweet Geranium Cafe

To all of our customers,
💕
I have made the decision not to reopen Sweet Geranium Cafe. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers over the last six years, the people of Drumshanbo and the wider community, all of whom have contributed to the success of the cafe.
Having a cafe of my own was a dream come true for me. The realisation of this dream was made possible by the unlimited support of my husband Enda, both of our families and our friends.
I have been blessed to have met so many wonderful people through the cafe. Coming from Cork, it was very special for me to be welcomed into the town of Drumshanbo with open arms. Drumshanbo is a unique place with a fantastic sense of community that I am extremely proud to call home. All of our suppliers were great over the years but I would like to especially thank Ray, Oliver and the team at Scollans Butchers who never let us down even on the busiest days of the year.
The staff of Sweet Geranium have been outstanding but I have to thank Valerie, our head chef in particular. Without Valerie, Sweet Geranium would never have blossomed into the cafe we were so both so happy to be a part of.
I wish the town of Drumshanbo the very best of luck in these strange times. I sincerely hope to see another business thrive in the building that was home for Sweet Geranium Cafe for the last six years. Wishing you all the very very best
Elaine ☀️

LEMON CAKE
The ingredients are at the end of the story/ highlight! 🙊
I added a few optional blueberries to this recipe. We make lemon squares from this recipe in the cafe but I find a loaf tin handier for home baking. I did double the recipe because I’m greedy! It’s up on stories and the highlights now. Happy Monday everyone. #stayathome #homebaking #slowdown #trysomethingnew #easypeasybaking #lemoncake

Carrot Cake.
Recipe on stories now.
I have tried a lot of recipes for carrot cakes over the years. I find this one relatively easy with a lovely moist flavoursome result. You can use this mix to make muffins, a loaf cake or a sandwich cake. We make muffins in the cafe but I prefer a loaf tin at home #carrotcake #stayathome #bakeathome #triedandtested #cafefavourite #naturalbaking #takeitslow

Simple shortbread biscuits.
These are so simple and quick to make. Require very little equipment and only 4 ingredients!
They are one of the first things I ever baked. I think baking these opened my eyes to the unnecessary additives that are present in almost all of the food we consume today.
Step by step instructions (there aren’t many!) on stories now🥰 #bakefromscratch #fouringredients #bakingisforeveryone #keepitsimple #takeitslow #backtobasics #createdontcontaminate #stayathome

Simple natural tomato sauce recipe on Instagram stories now. 🍅 We use this in the cafe all the time and especially when a recipe calls for tinned tomatoes. It’s a great way to use up any left over raw veg in your fridge. It’s a perfect addition to omelette, currys, pasta sauces and lasagnas. It takes time in the oven but not your time. 💅🏻#stayathome #nutriousanddelicious #inexpensivefood #simplefood #naturalfood ... See MoreSee Less
